Premier League Interest in Middlesbrough wing-back Hayden Coulson

Newcastle United have shown an interest in Middlesbrough youngster Hayden Coulson and are said to be willing to pay £10m for his services.

After an impressive break-through season at Boro under rookie manager Jonathan Woodgate, the Gazette report that Newcastle are planning a big money move for Coulson should they stay in the Premier League.

The news comes after an impressive season from Coulson who despite playing full-back has been one of Boro’s main attacking threats down he left with one goal and one assist.

Newcastle are already struggling for numbers at left-back and had to address the problem with the temporary signing of Danny Rose in January.

The Gazette say Middlesbrough would not entertain any offers for the twenty-one-year-old despite this being the last year the club receive parachute payments for their season in the Premier League, in the 2017-18 season.

Since returning from his second loan spell away from Middlesbrough this season Coulson has established himself as one of the mainstays in Jonathan Woodgate’s side in what has been a disappointing first campaign for the manager.

Despite Boro’s poor season, Coulson has emerged as one of the few positives and for Middlesbrough to even entertain letting one of their prized assets go, it would take a very sizeable offer.

Perhaps the offer of the Premier League would be too good to turn down for Coulson but for a player that has progressed all the way through the clubs academy you would expect a certain degree of loyalty.
